There's a place for you here...
Welcome to Urikkiri.
Urikkiri began with my mother’s reflections, first published in Chicago’s Korea Daily News (Joong Ang Ilbo) and Korea Times (Hankook Ilbo). Those forty-two essays form the foundation of this project. Today, they are translated and reimagined by contemporary Asian American artists.
What began as something deeply personal has grown into a platform celebrating Asian American creative artists and entrepreneurs who choose uncertainty over approval — claiming visibility, autonomy, and ownership on their own terms.
Urikkiri is a mother-daughter zine bridging language, generation, and medium, shining a light on the art and creative enterprise within our Asian American communities.
Join me as I continue to carry these stories forward.
